This Slow Cooker Beef Manhattan Sandwich brings together shredded roast beef, mashed potatoes, and rich brown gravy on thick white bread for a comforting, home-style meal with minimal effort.

Ingredients

  • 3 lb chuck roast

  • 1 large onion, sliced

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 2½ cups beef stock

  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch

  • 3 tbsp cold water

  • Thick-sliced white bread

  • 3 cups mashed potatoes

Instructions

  • Place roast in the slow cooker and season with salt and pepper. Add onions and garlic.

  • Pour in beef stock and Worcestershire sauce. Cook on LOW 8–10 hours or HIGH 4–5 hours.

  • Remove and shred the roast. Return shredded beef to the slow cooker.

  • Mix cornstarch with water to create slurry. Stir into slow cooker and cook on HIGH 15–20 minutes until thickened.

  • Serve over slices of bread with mashed potatoes and plenty of gravy.
